The Tides Today Android app is almost ready for release, but first it needs to be thoroughly tested. This is where you come in.
If you are an Android Phone or Tablet user and would like to test the app, please complete the enrolment by clicking the button below. Once enrolled, I will email you with instructions on how to install via the Play Store

Why is testing needed?
A requirement of Google is that the app is thoroughly tested before being published on the Google Play Store. Once the application has been tested by a sizeable cohort for 14 days, the app will be eligible to be published for general release.
Is it safe?
Yes, it's perfectly safe to install and use. It is installed through official Google Play channels and is not side-loaded, which can leave your device vulnerable to exploitation. By using official Google Play mechanisms, your device remains secure during the testing period.
What does the app do?
I've listened to a lot of feedback and conducted extensive research to ensure the Tides Today Tides and Weather app provides an unmatched experience. Here are some features:
- See tide times, current tide height and hour-by-hour weather for over 8,000 locations around the world.
- See all the dates for Spring and Neap tides for this year and the years to come
- Save tidal locations to your Favourites which allows them to be viewed in poor signal or no signal areas
- See locations nearest to you, or explore the tidal locations around the world
Can I opt out of the test programme?
Yes! You are free to opt out of the test programme whenever you choose. As this uses Google's official testing programme, you are fully in control to opt out at any point.
Is the app free?
Yes, it is and always will be free to use. To subsidise the operating costs of the systems that power it, there are some adverts in the app. I may introduce an optional small charge in the future to allow the app to be used free of adverts.
I use an iPhone or iPad. Can I join?
At the moment, the test programme is only open to Android devices, but an iOS test programme is planned later this year.
Can I provide feedback?
Yes! Feedback is encouraged throughout the test programme. Instructions on how to leave feedback will be provided when you are enrolled.
